How Your Council Works

Ferryden & Craig Community Council was established in 1970s and has been in existence ever since, unlike many others who have not managed to retain sufficient community interest.

The Council consists of a total of 9 members maximum. A List of current members can be seen here. Others may be co-opted as associate members for a particular reason. Anyone over the age of 16 years may put their names forward for election.

Official elections are held every 4 years. There are no elections if the number of candidates does not exceed the maximum 9 required.

Elected Councillors and Community Engagement Officers from Angus Council are normally present at meetings, along with the Police Scotland Community Officer and representatives from Ferryden Primary School.

There is, therefore, an opportunity for everyone to attend and raise issues of concern or present proposals for improving the environment and community interactions.
